Real Techniques Bold Metals Brushes

Hi,

I bet you've all heard about the new Real Techniques Bold Metals and like the rest of you I fell in love. Here I have the (left) 301 flat contour brush and (right) the 200 oval shadow brush.

First of all I just want to clear up my thoughts on the price. I have only ever bought high street make up brushes and was very thrown aback by the price when I first saw it. However after owning these and feeling them, I completely understand why. I also understand that from the business point of view this is their 'luxury line', not their affordable line.

The flat contour brush had mixed reviews when I had a look on YouTube but I loved the look and definition so much I just had to try it. I think this is a really good and dense brush for the contouring areas, especially for me as I only really concentrate on my cheekbones. It picks up and applies a lot of colour but it also does a good job of blending it all out too. I have used this on an every day basis since purchasing this and it makes my routine a lot quicker as I'm only using one brush for the job.

My eyes are probably my favourite part of my make up so I just had to have an eye related brush from the bold metals line. I use this to pack on a base colour or a bold colour, but it also fits well in my crease. I use this a lot and I absolutely love it, it is soft and doesn't drag on my skin.

If you're thinking of taking the plunge, do it.

Boots & Poundland Haul

Boots
I normally buy all of my make up from Superdrug and never really venture into Boots, but today I noticed Boots had a 'buy one get one half price' deal so I took a little look. First of all I needed a new make up bag as my usual one has broken, this Ted Baker one is so pretty and is just the right size to fit everything in (£10.99). I finally made the plunge of buying a Tangle Teezer, as I have admired these for so long. My hairdresser uses one and they never pull at they hair and they are so raved about on blogs all around. I bought the 'original' Orange Tangle Teezer. I also made the current cliché buy of the all so raved about Baby Lips my Rimmel, I wanted to get Cherry Me but it wasn't in stock so I grabbed the Pink Punch (£2.99). It smells delicious but I am yet to use it to give it a full review. I needed to get a new Eye-shadow Brush as mine is rather old, I love the Real Techniques range however I love trying out new things. I saw the EcoTools collection and thought I would give it a whirl, thus I bought the 'full eye shadow brush' (£5.49). I then grabbed Boots own 'tea tree & witch hazel shine control day moisturiser', as I need a new moisturiser and I am yet to find one that works well with my skin (£3.59). My local Superdrug doesn't stock Natural Collection and I think it's a great place to stock up on eye shadows and blushers if you don't know what colours suit you best, or if you just want to play about with colour. So (left to right) I grabbed a solo eye shadow in the colour Willow. Then I picked up two blushed cheeks (blusher), in Sugar Plum and Sweet Cheeks.

Poundland
After visiting Boots I popped into Poundland to grab a few bits but I came across something so much better. First of all was this Sinful Colors nail varnish in Courtney Orange. I have heard so much about these and have never been able to get my hands on them, and for only £1 who could resist? I then found this small nail kit which I thought was so cute and just right for travelling. However the best buy were these Calvin Klein Sheer Crème Eyeshadow's. They are just like the Maybelline EyeStudio Colour Tattoo 24 hr Cream (4.99), in texture and in pigmentation (except for 'retro silver' which is super sheer). Swatches (from left to right) are Vintage Metal, Sage Shimmer, Vinyl Black and Retro Silver. All are great colours, especially for autumn and winter, I am so pleased with this find so I will definitely keep my eyes peeled for more products in Poundland.
